If you are looking for basic information, Romilly's Blue Book has a few pages on DDL that give some insight into how it works. Otherwise, you must join the HART Communication Foundation and obtain the specifications on DDL (and if you're really interested in writing DD's, take a DDL workshop from the HCF).
