HART demodulator delay

Message posted by A. Cahill (alan.cahill@gmail.com : 137.71.226.54) on 16 January 2009 at 17:42:56.

Hi, I have a question regarding the allowed delay through a HART demodulator (I can't see any info about this in any HART documentation).

Since it takes time to be able to identify a bit time as a mark or space (greater than one bit time I would say) is there any limit on how much time the demodulator has before sending the data onto the UART.

Is it a case that the delay through the modulator doesn't matter as long as when it does begin to forward the demodulated stream to the UART that the position of bit edges in the byte are correct relative to the start bit in the byte?

Thanks in advance!
