I suppose a parity error could occur in any byte, including the Byte Count byte.I think an incomplete message could be regarded as a Framing Error. You would indicate that in the first status byte (with no data returned).
(The specs are not very clear on this subject, but I believe the Test Specs might include this sort of thing.)
