Is the transmitter configurable by HART command to choose its function? So the user could switch from one to the other (a useful saving of spares inventory)? If it is, I think it should be one Device Type and a common Device Description (and one model name/number). See for example the Emerson Micromotion coriolis flow meters, in which you can choose what should be its PV, SV, TV and QV from a list including mass flow, volume flow and density using HART command 51. Or Rosemount 3244MV for temperature, differential temperature or average temperature of two sensors.

If you choose the function before delivery to the customer, and offer a different Device Description, it surely has to be different Device Type and model number.
